The Mac Corner MacWorld EXPO 2008 There is so much to talk about regarding Apple, Inc. and the Macintosh I hardly know where to begin. This week the MacWorld Expo was held in San Francisco and there were four exciting announcements (not necessarily in this order) made by Apple CEO Steve Jobs. The first was the thinnest laptop computer in the world--The MacBook Air. It weighs only about three pounds, has a 13.3" screen, a full size keyboard and is only .76" thick--at the thickest end. the other end is a mere .16". It is loaded with other features. You'll have to take a look at it at www.apple.com/store. Next, Steve introduced many enhanced features for the iPhone and iPod Touch which were brought out last October. The third announcement was Movie rentals on Apple's iTunes Store. Just about all the Movie Studios will be providing their new releases as well as Classic films at very reasonable prices both in regular format and High Definition. Finally, Steve showed the 500GB and 1TB wireless backup drives as well as Apple TV. The latter allows the user to wirelessly download movies directly for play on an HD television set without even using a computer. There were many, many other announcements and features that you'll have to see for yourself at http://tinyurl.com/ywd6sj You can either click this link or copy it and paste it into the address line on your browser. Remember that the SCSMUG meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays at 6:30 in the Classroom. Bring your questions and come on out! I'll be looking for you. Bill Euler Mac Systems Administrator |
