Our  Computer  Club's  eBoard

A Source of Fun and Very Useful Information from the Internet

Bill Wilkinson, starting in early 2000, while acting as chairman of the Club's Education Committee, established an electronic bulletin board ( www.scscc.com/eboard ), with the objective of collecting and recording Websites that might be of interest to our membership. The number of Websites posted on the eboard now exceeds 4000, most of which include brief descriptions plus hyperlinks for single-click access. Although Bill periodically culls the list of duplicates and inactive or "dead" links, he is sure that you will find among the 4000 sites a few of each. Nevertheless, he hopes that you will find these references to be of some value. Most are links to recommended downloadable freeware or shareware (free to try).

For a Website to qualify for placement on the SCSCC electronic bulletin board, it must be recommended by at least one of the highly regarded computer magazines (e.g., Smart Computing, PCWorld, and PC Magazine), newspaper columnists (e.g., Walt Mossberg, James Coates, and Al Gibbs), or online gurus (e.g., Kim Komando, Fred Langa, Bob Rankin, Patrick Crispen, and Karen Kenworthy).

By clicking on this link ( www.scscc.com/eboard ), you will be taken to the first page of the eboard, where you will find the Webpages classified into 80 different topics. (Neither the Library of Congress nor Dewey Decimal classification system was used. The titles for each of the "folders" were arbitrarily established by Bill.

Note that there are two additional tabs that will take you to more folders:

The BKK Bonus tab will take you to a collection of bonus topics that have been presented at the Saturday morning BKK sessions. These topics are organized chronologically, with the most recent issues at the top of the page. (Topics that were presented during the previous week have a red background.)

The Protection tab will take you to three folders, one entitled "Protection from the Nasties" that contains a list of recommended (but FREE) downloads designed to protect your computer from viruses, worms, Trojans, adware, spyware, and malware. The second folder contains Fred Langa's list of protection recommendations, just in case you want verification from a master. The final folder gives a recommendation for managing System Restore as it relates to protecting your computer from the "nasties."
